Hello Everyone:
UP AND RUNNING!
This is my very first attempt at writing my own blog. I hope to keep this updated and welcome your input. I hope I don't get too radical! This seems a lot simpler than Facebook!!!
REPORT - UPDATE
Wayne Drewry (Impact Board Member) and myself recently returned from a fantastic trip to Zimbabwe (I also visited South Africa). To see God at work in a nation devastated by a corrupt regime is extremely exciting. (It brings me to my first radical thought - God is NOT dependent on any government to extend His purposes on the earth!! - Will follow this theme in a future blog).
The Impact model 'leave a legacy for the generations to come' is in full swing in Zimbabwe.
It is always humbling to see what God has done and is doing through the work I founded in 1976.
(It would seem to me that the church should learn how to grow, develop leadership that in turn will pass the baton on to the next generation). Faith Ministries (the church founded in 1976), is growing, extending its borders and picking up the mantel of community development and national transformation (see home page www.impactworl.org ) Within Faith Ministries we see three generations of leadership - Alastair Geddes, Ngwiza Mnkandla and Shingi Munyeza. How exciting is that - I founded the ministry in 1976, passed the baton to Ngwiza in 1983, he passed the baton to Shingi in 2006 - the baton to three generations and each generation is respectful and working together for 34 years.
The Church Is Growing in Zimbabwe
The church in Mbare (Harare) has grown from a few hundred earlier in the year to 1,000 adults and 1,000 children. It is fulfilling the community development model in reaching out to the community and using the building during the week for a vast variety of community needs.
Wayne and I attended a leadership conference where the church leadership 'huddled' to determine the theme for 2010. There were more than 400 leaders from around the country.
Zambia Receives Grant From Impact
Zambia is the country immediately to the north of Zimbabwe. The received $5,000 this year to advance the community development model. Jerry Kafuna who is spearheading the effort is a graduate of ACTS (Africa Christian Training School) which I founded in the late 1970's. He has purchased bee hives and greenhouses and building businesses to meet the needs of his congregation and the local community. He is a local pastor who is adopting the Impact model of community development and national transformation
Ezekiel Guti Builds A Hospital In Harare
During our visit to Zimbabwe, we met with a man I consider as a spiritual father. Now in his 80's Ezekiel Guti has founded thousands of churches around the world - Africa, America, Canada, Europe, Asia and Australia are only a few of the areas where Guti has planted a church. During our visit he took us to see the hospital being built in the capital. All this in a nation so devastated from years of tyranny. The hospital will be completed in 2010.
Craig Geddes and Alastair Geddes Meet In South Africa
There is no greater joy in the heart of a father than to see his own son pursue the destiny God has placed on his life. Craig has a huge responsibility with JAM (Joint Aid Management) an NGO (Non Government Organization), and he travels often to Mozambique, Sudan and other African countries checking on the programs offered by JAM to as many as 500,000 children each day.
It was good to spend time with Craig and Angela (his new bride) and see them on their 'home' soil. We visited a number of the JAM feeding projects and also Door Of Hope the orphanage where Angela and Craig are volunteers. To pass on the baton of legacy to one's very own children is so very meaningful.
I will continue to post information, updates and maybe even some of the thoughts I get that come my way, that I can pass on to you. If you have any comments please let me know.
